You can change the Microsoft Account on a profile by

1) Preparing a replacement Microsoft Account at http://signup.live.com and selecting Make A New Email Account.

2) Change the Microsoft Account on the Xbox 360 via Settings | Account | ->-> Account Security | Change Microsoft Account

I don't want to create a new Microsoft Account. I already have the desired Microsoft Accounts. I just want to get rid of the Microsoft generated Xbox Profile/Gamertag for Account #2, so I can move my Xbox Profile/Gamertag from Account #1.

Thanks

Sadly, this is true. I have never had so much grief from "security". I have 3 kids and this is ridiculous. I've spent easily 4-5 hours this weekend trying to get this crap straightened out.

I will not be upgrading to the next gen xbox.

Because the solution they have works if you follow it.

Gamertag A now uses Microsoft Account addresse #1

Gamertag B now uses Microsoft Account addresse #2

TODAY

On a PC make new Microsoft Account addresse #3 at http://signup.live.com

Switch Gamertag A to Microsoft Account addresse #3 on the Xbox with Settings | Account | --> --> Account Security | Change Microsoft Account which will free up the #1 Microsoft Account

IN 30 DAYS OR MORE FROM TODAY (write the date on your calandar)

Switch Gamertag B to Microsoft Account addresse #1 (current email) on the Xbox with Settings | Account | --> --> Account Security | Change Microsoft Account

WHY WAIT 30 DAYS?

Switching Microsoft Accounts multiple times was a trick used by account thieves, to 'muddy the trail' and make it tough to catch them. I hope you don't mind Microsoft making life difficult for account thieves...

I found the answer here: support.xbox.com/.../switch-gamertag-to-different-microsoft-account

It took forever and a half to do it and an hour with customer support that got me no where.

BTW, you can't delete an account from Live...only from your console.  Once you make a Silver or Gold account it stays made.  At least until such a time as MS decides to purge it from the system.  Which has never been annouced for the 360...only for the original Xbox.

There should be an account verification override to bypass the 30 days....after waiting the initial 30 days and then following above instructions, I had to download the profile and guess what...I have to wait another 30 days from the downloaded profildate....YIPPEEE!!!

I understand the whole thieves comment - but there should be a way for support to override plan and simple...see ya after 60 days to get everything switched around - FIN awesome!!!!!

If you do it correctly you can do it riggt the first time without waiting 30days

so gamertag 1 has ms account 1

and gamertag 2 has ms account 2

so you need an ms account 3

So you change gamertag 2 with ms account 2 with ms account 3

then replace gamertag 1 with ms account 2 and then wait for the 30days to replace ms account 3 for gamertag 2

so replace gamertag 2  and ms account 2
